After a long career as a naval architect, and as a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Gregory Hughes passed away 5 November 2022
Mr Hughes was born in Seattle, Washington state, US on 23 October 1966. He graduated from university college Berkeley and joined Art Anderson & Associates in Bremerton in 1990, where he worked for seven years honing his skills and experience.
In 1997, he joined Guido Perla & Associates Inc in Seattle as a ship designer and engineer where he was responsible for designing different types of workboats, naval vessels and passenger ships.
Mr Hughes left this company to join Guido Perla’s new company BeroTech in 2018, where he worked until 2022.
During his illustrious career, Mr Hughes designed and consulted on a myriad of vessel design projects including tugboats, ferries, fishing vessels, cruise ships, research and military vessels and offshore support vessels.
Many of these were for clients in the US, including the National Oceanographic & Atmospheric Administration, Washington State Ferries, University National Oceanographic Laboratory System, Alaska Marine Highway System, Seattle Police Department, US Coast Guard and US Navy.
Mr Hughes is survived by his twin Geoffrey T Hughes and his father Richard T Hughes. Celebration of Life will be held at Manette Community Church Social Hall in Bremerton, 2 July 2023.
