Italy’s Fincantieri Group has appointed chief executive Pierroberto Folgiero as chairman on an interim basis following the death of the company’s chair, Claudio Graziano
He will assume responsibility for the supervision and co-ordination of the internal control system of the company and its subsidiaries and govern the activities of the company security system, ensuring the administrative protection of state secrets and classified information, and manage relations and reports on industrial safety with the National Safety Authority, the company said in a statement.
The supervision and co-ordination of the internal audit function remains with the board of directors.
Mr Folgiero’s appointment of a permanent chairman will be done in accordance with the succession plan of the chairman of the board of directors.
General Claudio Graziano, who was chairman of Fincantieri, died suddenly on 17 June. He was 70.
Mr Graziano was one of the highest-ranking members of the Italian military, having served for over 40 years and retiring as chief of the Italian defence general staff.
