Principle Power has appointed João Amaral as its new chief executive, succeeding Julian Arrilaga Costa, who will remain with the company in an advisory role until the end of 2025
Mr Amaral joins Principle Power, which is a leading provider of foundations for floating offshore wind, after serving as group chief technology officer at the French independent power producer Voltalia.
He brings more than 20 years of renewable energy experience leading diverse teams and complex projects from planning through deployment.
Principle Power chairman Bautista Rodríguez said, “Mr Amaral brings a proven track record in growth, technology, and industrialisation that aligns with Principle Power’s ambition to make floating offshore wind a reality.
“The board has full confidence in his leadership and in the talented teams already in place. This transition ensures continuity for our stakeholders and reinforces Principle Power’s position as floating wind enters a new phase. We want to thank Julian Arrillaga Costa for the significant progress Principle Power made under his leadership and for his continued support during the transition.”
Mr Amaral said, “Floating wind is maturing and Principle Power is well-placed, with proven execution and performance, backed by validated processes and methods, and an experienced team. We will continue to leverage experience from 105-MW of projects using WindFloat technology to further strengthen our competitiveness.
“We will build on our established supply chain alliances and industrialised technology base to continue reducing the levelised cost of energy from offshore wind. Principle Power enters this next phase of commercial growth from a position of strength and will continue to lead as floating wind scales.”
