Prosafe appoints new chief executive

He will take over the role from Reese McNeel who as acted as interim chief executive in addition to his permanent position as chief financial officer this year. Mr McNeel will continue as chief of finance after Mr Askvig joins.

Mr Askvig comes with experience within shipping, oil services and offshore renewables and has been operating partner and senior advisor in Triton Partners for the last 11 years.

During his time as partner with Triton Partners, he was chairman and a board member of DeepOcean, chairman of Nordic Tankers and Herning Shipping, and also served on the board of OSM Thome Group and Avarn Security Group.

Mr Askvig worked as chief executive of Eitzen Chemical for five years and seven years in Fred Olsen & Co, including as managing director of Fred Olsen Renewables.

His arrival comes as Prosafe resides in a lull of activity with some of its semi-submersible accommodation units laid up in Europe and the rest active in Brazil and the US.
