The UK-based subsea technology provider has appointed a general manager before opening a technology hub in western Norway
Subsea Technology & Rentals (STR) is opening a technology and services hub in Åkrehamn, Norway, close to key customers in Haugesund and Stavanger.
The Aberdeen, Scotland-headquartered provider of subsea sensor equipment and solutions has appointed Solstad Offshore’s former head of services, Oskar Tveit, as general manager in Norway and has transferred James Whyte from the UK as technical operations team leader.
Mr Tveit spent almost six years with Solstad Offshore and also worked for Reach Subsea for six years.
STR plans to increase its headcount into double figures in Norway within two years, with a focus on developing local talent. It intends to invest Nkr70M (US$6M) in the base, equipment fleet and organisation in 2025. The workshop will include workstations for both electronic sensor technology and mechanical tooling.
STR provides subsea sensors and equipment for the offshore energy, infrastructure and marine science markets. It has technology and service facilities in Aberdeen, Great Yarmouth (UK), Houston (US), Perth (Australia) and Singapore.
It delivers mission-critical solutions to support the offshore survey, ROV, IRM, positioning, environmental and subsea construction sectors.
