Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has received a firm order from Ailes Marine, an affiliate of Iberdrola, for 62 of its SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbines for the 496-MW Bay of Saint Brieuc offshore windfarm. This deal also includes a 10-year agreement for turbine maintenance services
Siemens Gamesa offshore chief executive Andreas Nauen said, “We are extremely excited to add France to the many markets around the world where our offshore wind turbines contribute to providing clean energy and combating climate change.
“Saint Brieuc is our first firm offshore order in France. We thank Ailes Marines for their confidence in our products as well as our manufacturing plans for France.”
Siemens Gamesa France managing director Filippo Cimitan said “This is excellent news for the energy transition, the offshore wind energy sector, and industry in France. This first firm order is an important step towards our industrial plant in Le Havre.”
The main components of the 62 turbines for the Saint Brieuc offshore windfarm will be produced at the company’s factory in Le Havre.
