Mingyang Smart Energy in China has launched the world’s highest capacity floating offshore wind turbine, the dual-rotor OceanX
The dual rotor OceanX floater has two 8.3-MW MySE8.3-180 turbines installed on it and a total capacity of 16.6 MW.
The V-shaped OceanX platform was launched recently at Guangzhou in China. It is designed to optimise wind capture and efficiency in deep water, and is capable of producing 54M kWh annually.
The floater was constructed using high-performance concrete and is a cable-stayed system designed for enhanced structural efficiency and adaptability.
The OceanX is a single-point mooring design developed to ensure maximum stability and safety even in extreme typhoon conditions.
