Denmark’s Bladt Industries has announced plans to invest in facilities to build XXL monopile foundations for the offshore wind industry
A leading supplier of foundations and substations for the offshore wind market, Bladt Industries is investing to expand its production facility at Lindø Port of Odense.
Initial agreements have already been signed with suppliers and planning of the new production facilities at Lindø Port of Odense has begun.
Bladt Industries said it expects to begin deliveries of XXL monopile foundations from the new facility by 2022. The facility will be adapted to meet demand for monopiles that will have a length of 100 m and a diameter of 15 m, and weigh more than 3,000 tonnes.
Bladt Industries chief executive Anders Søe-Jensen said, “Soon, most windfarms will be built with 15-MW turbines with rotor diameters of 240 m. These turbines require an enormous foundation fixed to the seabed. We are moving one step closer to meeting future demand, at the same time consolidating our position as one of the leading suppliers of foundations and substations.
“From our production site in Denmark, we can ship structures internationally, and enter into partnerships with our customers in what is a continuously growing market, consolidating our global market position.”
