Jan De Nul has kicked-off construction of its next-generation jack-up installation vessel Voltaire with a steel-cutting ceremony at Cosco Shipping Shipyard (Nantong) Co Ltd in China
Voltaire is designed to transport, lift and install offshore wind turbines, transition pieces and foundations.
The vessel will be equipped with a main crane capable of lifting in excess of 3,000 tonnes and a DP2 dynamic positioning system. The vessel will be capable of transporting loads of up to 14,000 tonnes and will have accommodation for 110 people.
The new vessel will also have exhaust gas filtering technology that complies with EURO STAGE V guidelines for emissions.
The dual exhaust filter system is complemented by using a selective catalytic reduction to remove NOx.
