Fred Olsen Ocean has opened a branch office in Taipei, Taiwan to support the growing offshore wind industry in the Asia Pacific region
The new office is located in central Taipei and will be run by Hans Hansen, the company’s newly appointed regional manager for the APAC region, who has been with Fred Olsen since 2013.
“Taiwan and the Asia Pacific region hold many opportunities for our business and we believe Taipei is the ideal location from which we can easily reach our clients in a short time,” said Mr Hansen.
“We want to leverage the experience and competence we have in our companies and teams onshore and offshore and build value locally where we operate. We are especially focused on future projects in Taiwan.”
The companies represented by the new office include Fred Olsen Windcarrier, Global Wind Service and Universal Foundation.
Early next year, Fred Olsen Windcarrier plans to mobilise one of its purpose-built jack-up vessels to Taiwan for the Yunlin offshore windfarm, the company’s first Taiwanese transportation and installation project and its first project in Asia.
The client for the Yunlin project is Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, with whom Fred Olsen has executed many offshore windfarm projects in the past.
