Hellenic Cables and Asso.subsea have been awarded a turnkey contract by Réseau de Transport d’ Électricité for the Dunkerque offshore windfarm
The French windfarm, which is being developed by EDF and Enbridge, will have a capacity of 500-600 MW, and will have two 225-kV HVAC export cables connecting it to the grid.
Hellenic Cables will design, manufacture and supply 32 km of submarine cables for the submarine cable link, and 38 km of underground cables for the underground cable link. It will also supply submarine and underground cable accessories, perform on-site jointing, testing and termination work and be responsible for the commissioning of the cable links.
Asso.subsea will be responsible for transporting, laying and protecting the submarine cables.
The submarine cables will be manufactured at Hellenic Cables’ facility in Corinth, Greece. The land cables will be manufactured at the company’s onshore cable manufacturing facility in Thiva, Greece.
In a statement, Hellenic Cables said, “The project involves complex laying and burial operations in shallow water, an area where Asso.subsea has demonstrated extensive expertise over the years.”
