Keppel FELS, part of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has secured a contract from an as yet unnamed renewable energy company for the construction of an offshore substation
The Singapore yard said the contract is worth approximately S$130M (US$98M).
Keppel O&M’s work scope comprises the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning for the complete substation. It will have a capacity of 600 MW and is due to be completed in 2025.
When completed, the substation will be deployed in an offshore windfarm in the Asia Pacific region.
The company is currently building a HVDC converter station for an offshore windfarm in the German sector of the North Sea and two offshore substations for another offshore windfarm.
In 2021, it delivered two offshore substation projects, which are now operational in Taiwan.
