Denmark-based Liftra and the Netherlands headquartered HMH Holding’s subsidiary MHWirth have joined forces to develop a major component exchange solution for offshore wind turbines
The companies said they plan to leverage Liftra’s extensive wind industry experience and HMH’s offshore experience to develop the new solution.
The solution integrates Liftra’s LT1200 self-hoisting crane technology with HMH’s heave-compensation technology, which was originally designed for operation on offshore supply vessels.
HMH is primarily a supplier of solutions for the drilling, construction and mining industries and became an independent company in October 2021 through the merger of Baker Hughes’ subsea drilling business and Akastor’s wholly owned subsidiary, MHWirth.
Liftra chief executive Per Eske Fenger said, “We are pleased to collaborate with HMH to develop a cutting-edge solution for the maintenance of offshore wind turbines.
“Liftra and HMH share an ambition to provide the wind industry with sustainable and efficient solutions. Our core focus at Liftra is to develop solutions designed to enhance operations, sustainability, and cost competitiveness. With HMH’s and Liftra’s offshore expertise, we are confident this solution will play a key role in offshore maintenance operations.”
HMH chief technology officer Pål Skogerbø said, “We are excited about collaborating with Liftra, leveraging our experience in handling solutions and heave compensation for the offshore environment.
“We share a vision with Liftra to develop safer, more efficient maintenance systems for offshore wind turbines. This collaboration exemplifies our complementary strengths, driving sustainable and competitive solutions for the offshore wind industry.”
