KESTO, the joint venture between Esvagt in Denmark and KMC Line in South Korea, has secured its first contracts in the Korean offshore wind market
From 2028, for a minimum of 10 years, KESTO will provide vessels to Vestas for a service scope on the Shinan-Ui offshore windfarm.
KESTO will support Vestas from the construction phase, and once the windfarm is operational, will deliver service operations for Vestas until 2039.
KESTO has initiated the construction of two 27-m crew transfer vessels (CTVs), each with a capacity for 24 technicians. The vessels will transfer windfarm technicians to Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines.
Esvagt senior sales executive Jacob Lykke-Kjeldsen said, “Over the years, we have gained extensive experience with safe transfer boat (STB) operations in offshore windfarms and have safely transferred turbine technicians more than 350,000 times.
“STB operations are very similar to CTV operations, and we are confident that our experience, transfer of knowledge procedures and crew training plans will ensure Vestas the highest level of support.”
The vessels, which are of European design, will be built at a Korean shipyard and are due to be delivered in Q1 2028.
