UK refit and repair provider Diverse Marine Ltd has signed a contract with crew transfer vessel service provider Turner Iceni Ltd to modify and ‘upcycle’ the vessel Iceni Courage
Following the success of similar upgrade projects on the former MCS Maestro, which was renamed Iceni Warrior and MPI Don Quixote, now Iceni Revenge, a similar refit was considered for Iceni Courage.
At 15 m in length, Iceni Courage is small in comparison with more recently constructed CTVs but had the potential for several more years of service in the windfarm sector if lengthened and upgraded.
The life extension project for the CTV includes lengthening the hull, deck and superstructure by 3.6 m, repowering the vessel with a Volvo Penta IPS900, relocating and replacing the generator, relocating the fresh water and grey water tanks with new plumbing, cutting in a forward side door to the saloon and cutting in an additional third crew position on the bridge and a full refit of the interior.
The refit will also include new accommodation linings, new heads compartment, an all-new galley with modern appliances and new windows and doors. In addition, the vessel is to be repainted from top to bottom.
Diverse Marine director Ben Colman said, “Following the success of the two Iceni life extension projects last year we are very pleased to have won this competitive tender and to further our experience in this sector. This is a great opportunity to process the lessons learned on the previous projects for a more efficient production solution.”
