Nikolas Tsakos to receive Tanker Shipping & Trade Industry Leader Award

President, chief executive and executive director of Tsakos Energy Navigation, Nikolas Tsakos is this year’s Tanker Shipping & Trade Industry Leader.

The award – which he will collect in person at this year’s Tanker Shipping & Trade Conference in London – is recognition for the powerful leadership shown as head of Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) and chairman of Intertanko.

“Our success [at TEN] is simple… we have a long-term business with major end users. We have always maintained a solid balance sheet and low debt.”

Now in his second term as chairman of Intertanko, Mr Tsakos continues to pursue an ambitious agenda and has been especially outspoken on maintaining the industry’s supply and demand balance. “Much like smoking, over-ordering [vessels] gives you a quick fix… but it kills you in the end.”

Riviera’s Tanker Shipping & Trade Conference, Exhibition & Awards take place 14-15 November in London.

The Awards dinner takes place at the end of day one.
