Engine maker MAN Energy Solutions has tapped data analytics firm Spire Global to provide weather data and real-time automatic identification system (AIS) vessel-tracking data
MAN will integrate Spire’s AIS and weather data into its digital platform MAN-CEON to support monitoring and advisory tools for the decarbonisation and optimisation of marine, power and industrial equipment.
This integration aims to provide customers with improved performance, troubleshooting and decarbonisation insights.
MAN Energy Solutions and Spire will also collaborate to develop AI models designed to analyse engine data and create more cost-efficient services for customers.
MAN chief digital officer Gregory Puckett said, “Our driving strategy at MAN Energy Solutions revolves around ’moving big things to zero’, which means we aim to help decarbonise key sectors of the global economy through systems that bring down emissions that have been historically hard to abate.”
“The enrichment of our product data with Spire’s AIS and weather data will unlock further optimisation for our products, and further our goal to improve engine performance and decarbonisation."
Accelleron’s (formerly ABB Turbocharging) digital division has inked a new collaboration agreement with MAC Maritime, the German expert in onboard data acquisition and performance monitoring.
The agreement takes effect immediately and will see MAC Maritime market and distribute Accelleron’s Tekomar XPERT marine engine, emissions and marine hull and propeller modules. This strategic partnership will provide potential and existing customers of MAC Maritime with easy access and integration to Accelleron’s digital services.
Customers will also gain access to the combination of MAC Maritime’s IoT-based automation, measurement and communication technology expertise, and Accelleron’s inhouse know-how related to sustainable vessel performance evaluation and advisory.
In particular, the continuously monitored and reported vessel’s data from MAC is expected to serve as the ideal baseline for Accelleron Tekomar XPERT engine diagnostic, Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) rating forecasting.
“The collaboration with MAC Maritime aligns with our software integration strategy,” said Accelleron global head of sales and operations, digital division, Shailesh Shirsekar.
“We aim to further aid shipowners and operators in the transition towards optimal operation of equipment, cost saving and sustainability,” he added.
