Tidewater president and chief executive Quintin Kneen was recognised for his industry leadership at Riviera Maritime Media’s Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference, Awards and Exhibition in London, UK, 15 June 2022
He was presented with the OSJ Industry Leader Award 2022, sponsored by Uptime International, during a gala dinner.
Uptime International director for sales and marketing Svein Ove Haugen presented this prestigious award to Mr Kneen, who praised his company, from seafarers to top executives, for being a leader in the offshore support vessel (OSV) sector.
This award comes after Tidewater completed its acquisition of Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) in what has become a more bullish market.
Houston-based Tidewater is “uniquely positioned to capitalise on what is looking to be a truly transformational period for vessel activity and day rate improvements,” said Mr Kneen.
“The worst downturn the industry has ever seen is largely behind us and all of the factors point to even better times ahead.”
Tidewater has acted as an industry consolidator and leader in rationalising its fleet through selling its older, idle tonnage.
Through its acquisition of SPO, it has enhanced its fleet with 50 young OSVs, while expanding its global footprint. This includes enhancing its position in West Africa, which “is just beginning to recover from the pandemic and which is likely to be a substantial beneficiary of the world’s search for hydrocarbons outside of Russia,” said Mr Kneen.
He said prospects for platform supply vessels and anchor handling tug supply vessels are brightening, as more drilling rigs are contracted and returned to the market.
“We remain confident the second half of 2022 will represent a meaningful uplift in vessel demand, with 2023 representing yet another leg up,” said Mr Kneen.
