Croatian FSRU breaks record and FLNG moors offshore while waiting to berth
LNG Croatia receives 80th LNG carrier
Methane Julia Louise was the 80th LNG carrier to dock alongside the FSRU LNG Croatia.
All safety checks were completed in mid-December 2023, the cargo has been transferred and Methane Julia Louise has sailed away.
FLNG Gimi arrives at GTA field offshore Mauritania/Senegal
Golar LNG has announced FLNG Gimi arrived at the GTA field offshore Mauritania and Senegal 10 January 2024.
Golar has notified BP of FLNG Gimi’s arrival and after all preparatory activities are completed, FLNG Gimi will be moored at the hub and connected to the feed gas pipeline.
Golar and BP have agreed FLNG Gimi will moor offshore Tenerife while waiting for its berth to be prepared.
Newbuilding contracts
Brokers and shipbuilding newsletter BRL Weekly Newbuilding Contracts reported Kuwait Oil Tanker Co (KOTC) is asking for quotes from shipyards for three 174,00-m3 LNG carriers.
Finland Gasum delivers cargo
Securing Energy for Europe has announced Nordic energy company Gasum has delivered a cargo LNG to the Inkoo FSRU.
This is the fourth large LNG cargo Gasum has delivered to the Inkoo FRSU since the Balticconnector gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia ruptured and was shut down in early October 2023.
In addition, Gasum delivered a smaller 100-GWh cargo with its own LNG vessel Coral Energy early January to Gasgrid, to ensure system balancing and to mitigate the risk of inadequate gas during the extraordinarily cold period.
GTT receives two tank design orders
GTT has announced two orders for the NO96 GW membrane containment system tank design of two LNG carriers. The first 174,000 m3 LNG carrier will be delivered by the South Korean shipyard Hanwha Ocean in 2027.
The second LNG carrier will be built by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries and will incorporate GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for Q3 2026.
These two vessels will be built on behalf of a Japanese shipowner.
Flex Constellation returned
Flex LNG has received notice the charterer of Flex Constellation has decided not to utilise its extension option. Flex LNG expects to take redelivery of the ship Q2 2024. “We believe the vessel is well positioned to be recontracted at more attractive levels than the previous contract,” said chief executive Øystein Kalleklev.
Stade LNG greenlight
Lüneburg State Trade Inspectorate has granted Hanseatic Energy Hub permission to construct and operate an FSRU and connecting pipeline systems for storing and regasifying LNG at the plant site in Stade.
The FSRU will be allowed to operate for 15 years from the date of its approval, but will cease operations before then once the land-based Stade LNG terminal, which was approved on 1 November 2023, becomes operational.
