Norway-based Seismic Partner has secured the first commercial rental of its upgraded Seisnode ocean bottom node (OBN) technology in the offshore wind sector
In a statement, Seismic Partner said the system has been contracted by a ‘global player’ in the renewables space. The OBNs will be deployed for environmental monitoring in offshore wind developments.
“This marks an important milestone for us, and demonstrates how compact and efficient OBN technology can be applied far beyond traditional oil and gas seismic surveys,” the company said.
“As offshore wind continues to scale, we see significant untapped potential for OBN, not only within environmental monitoring, but also across a wide range of geophysical applications supporting site characterisation, risk reduction, and long-term monitoring.
“We look forward to seeing Seisnode in operation in this evolving segment, and to further exploring how OBN can contribute to the broader energy transition.”
