Simpson Spence Young (SSY) has agreed terms to acquire Kristiansand, Norway-headquartered Westshore Shipbrokers to expand its operations into the global offshore sector
Westshore has accumulated more than 35 years of experience since it was formed in 1987. It specialises in chartering, market intelligence and sale and purchase of offshore support vessels in the North Sea sector and around the world.
Its acquisition is part of SSY’s wider strategy to build its business in a resurging offshore sector to complement its wide range of shipbroking services in other sectors.
“This acquisition marks the first step in realising one of SSY’s key strategic objectives, to become a major global player in offshore,” said SSY managing partner Stanko Jekov.
“We have ambitious plans for this market, and I am confident we can add real value in this sector.”
Westshore has built partnerships and local expertise in Norway, one of the major offshore shipping hubs in Europe.
“This strategic move will enable Westshore to leverage on SSY’s worldwide network, considerable analytics resources, and wide-ranging expertise in the shipping space,” said Westshore managing director Goran Rostad.
“Through this acquisition, we will be able to offer new opportunities for both our team and clients and provide even greater levels of service under the umbrella of a major global brokerage.”
