Passive fire protection and acoustic solutions specialist Promat has reached an agreement to form a closer commercial collaboration with passenger ship interiors company Drumarkon.
Through this partnership, the expertise and product portfolios of Drumarkon and Promat will be combined, allowing customers to have direct access to the complete portfolio of solutions through a single contact.
Telling PST the advantages of the partnership, Giorgio Lauro, naval architect and marine segment manager said: “Promat will use Drumarkon as a workshop for providing to the market fire rated B and C class panels (laminated boards) for passenger ships partition wall and furniture. This will give the possibility of controlling the complete process from raw material to finished panels.”
Singling out the benefits for ferry and cruise ship customers, he said: “A unique responsibility in product performance, process quality control and financial liability, for the supply of fire class panels is an advantage for the shipyards as well as for the shipowner. Up to now the trend is to split the supply among more contractors, to reduce the risk in case of the contractor's failure. With the agreement in place, Promat could take the full supply for the entire ship, providing more financial strength and better pricing for scale economy.”
