TUGTECHNOLOGY '23

The industry’s premier technical gathering
TUGTECHNOLOGY ’23 took place on 22 - 23 May, Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre WTC Rotterdam.
This event drew hundreds of tug professionals from around the world and received plaudits for its outstanding presentations, networking and exhibition opportunities as well as the celebration of the ITS Awards.
The two-day conference, exhibition and awards alternates on a bi-annual basis with The International Tug & Salvage Conference, Exhibition & Awards, and has been the industry’s must-attend event - in odd rather than even years - since 2007.
Based on extensive research, the conference programme for TUGTECHNOLOGY ’23 was designed to deliver vital insights and clarity on the technological changes and options available to industry as 2030 comes rapidly into the view.
Papers and the technologies discussed at the event rooted in the industry’s commercial, operational, regulatory, technical and ESG context. Supply chain considerations and the economics of new technology were very much in focus.
Among the subjects examined at the 2023 event were the decarbonisation challenge facing tug owners and how emissions can be reduced; the challenges companies face training onshore and seagoing personnel to maintain and operate new technology; new types of technology, such as alternative fuels, batteries and electrification options; and safety, which were examined from the regulatory viewpoint and from the viewpoint of recent industry guidance in areas such as man overboard and preventing man-in-water incidents. As always, there was a particular focus on new and recently introduced designs and equipment.
Delegates joined us in Rotterdam in May to benchmark current practices and industry knowledge, meet clients, do business and expand networks.
