Tugnology 2013 London
With almost 340 registered delegates from across the globe and papers which stimulated discussion and debate in areas such as hybrid propulsion, remote monitoring and tug stability to name but a few, Tugnology ’13 was a resounding success.
The event, organised by The ABR Company Ltd, took place in the heart of London at Canary Wharf. It brought international companies together for the two-day conference, known for its networking opportunities, high-quality conference papers and its tendency to become a springboard for the launch of new innovations, endeavours and firm partnerships.
“A very good occasion to share knowledge and state of technology, looking at future market trends.”
Marco Goiach, Wärtsilä Italia SpA
The event began with an evening drinks reception sponsored by JonRie InterTech, before it was officially opened the next day by Marc Niederer, chairman of the British Tugowners Association and managing director, Europe, for Svitzer Marine Ltd.
Attendance was high for the papers presented, discussion was stimulated and coffee breaks provided by MTU ensured a constant flow of ideas and debate. With important announcements from the exhibitors such as Robert Allan Ltd, Sanmar and KST BV Rotor®Tug, Champagne was also flowing freely.
“Fantastic opportunity to get face-to-face with key players in the global workboat community.”
Paul Cyr, Edoc Systems Group
Uzmar Workboat & Tug Factory sponsored lunch on both days, enabling delegates to re-charge their batteries for the afternoon conference sessions, before the evening’s entertainment: pre-dinner drinks sponsored by Samson and dinner from Damen, where a string quartet added a relaxed atmosphere to the event.
