Revitalising Europe’s largest LNG import terminal

Interviewed at Riviera Maritime Media’s LNG Shipping & Terminals Conference, Europe 2022 in London in November, National Grid’s Grain LNG Technical Development Manager James Hooker, discusses some of the challenges that have arisen during the planning of the midlife expansion of the 40-year-old terminal. 

Mr Hooker discusses some of the factors in planning the expansion of the terminal to not only meet the commercial needs of the future, but also remain aligned with National Grid’s net-zero ambitions.

Grain LNG is capable of supplying 25% of the UK’s current gas demand and is set to play a continuing, vital role in the UK’s energy transition, he says.
