Uzmar Shipyard has launched the first of the two push boats it is building for Hidrovias do Brasil and added a new harbour tug to its own fleet
The Turkish shipbuilder has built this diesel-electric, shallow draught, pusher tug to Robert Allan Ltd RApide 4600 design.
It was launched with assistance from a mobile drydock and fleet of three harbour tugs, which manoeuvred the new vessel to Uzmar’s quayside.
Uzmar expects to launch the second of these 46-m push boats September 2022, and both should be ready for delivery soon afterwards, in Q4 2022.
Hidrovias do Brasil will operate these tugs along rivers in northern Brazil pushing convoys of barges on inland waterways, often in remote locations and under challenging conditions.
Uzmar has also added new harbour tug Alsancak 22 to its fleet operating in Turkey.
