Marine consultancy Brookes Bell has promoted Martin Twomey to director of the US business, as part of Brookes Bell’s ambitious growth strategy in the Americas region
Mr Twomey has been with the company since 2018 as director of marine engineering in Asia, based in Shanghai, China.
He is a chartered marine engineer with a first-class certificate of competency and spent 18 years at sea sailing on tankers, container ships, bulk carriers and reefer vessels.
Mr Twomey has additional qualifications in marine surveying, drydock planning and management, oil, gas and petrochemical shipping, and naval architecture.
His appointment as US director follows Brookes Bell’s acquisition of US-based marine consultancy 3D Marine in 2021.
Mr Twomey’s new role is just one of a number of new appointments for the company as Brookes Bell boosts its expert team across the continent.
At the end of 2021, Captain David Ireland was appointed as a principal master mariner, based in San Francisco. He has been a member of the Lloyd’s Special Casualty Representative (SCR) panel since 2016.
Senior naval architect and SCR, William Leschaeve, is now based in New York, Captain Eric Crabtree, a former salvage master is based in Houston.
Consultant marine engineer Matthew Fenton moved to San Francisco and principal naval architect, Luis Guarin, has moved to Brookes Bell’s Miami office.
