UK’s largest energy port, the Port of Milford Haven, has recruited Tom Sawyer as its new chief executive
He will take up the role at the LNG-import port in southwest Wales at the end of April 2022, when current chief executive Andy Jones steps down.
Mr Sawyer brings decades of experience in managing organisations spanning defence, security, intelligence and technology.
His appointment comes as the Port of Milford Haven seeks to deliver on its ambitious diversification strategy and support the UK’s drive to be carbon neutral.
Mr Sawyer’s most recent activities were in Qatar, a source of the large quantities of LNG imported through the Port of Milford Haven.
In Qatar, he led the initial business set up and strategy development of joint venture BQ Solutions in 2017.
Mr Sawyer engaged with the Qatar’s Ministry of Defence and played a central role in delivering significant business for clients.
As a result, BQ Solutions became a member of the Barzan Holdings family of companies, which invests in projects in Qatar.
