Korean Register’s general assembly has appointed a new chairman and chief executive for the next three years
After 30 years of service at Korean Register (KR), Yongsok Lee has been promoted to the position of chief executive and chairman.
He was appointed to lead the East Asian classification society for the next three years during an extraordinary meeting of KR’s general assembly on 23 December 2025.
Mr Lee will continue in these positions through to 22 December 2028 during a three-year fixed tenure.
He joined KR in 1995 and served in various technical and management positions, including as general manager of the Copenhagen, Denmark, office and head of South Korean business development.
Since 2020, Mr Lee has served as executive vice president in charge of KR’s business division.
“I feel a strong sense of responsibility in assuming the role of chairman at a critical time when the maritime industry is undergoing structural changes driven by decarbonisation and digital transformation,” said Mr Lee.
“Through leadership grounded in open communications, I will work to further strengthen KR’s role and responsibilities, and contribute to the sustainable development of the global maritime industry.”
