The newly formed ’executive leadership team’ will start work 1 February 2023
AP Moller-Maersk said it has created a new organisational structure and leadership team to take effect in February following the appointment of Vincent Clerc as chief executive and former chief executive Soren Skou stepping down.
Maersk said its new organisational structure is shaped around 15 roles and areas of responsibility, with the team expected to "jointly own the execution of Maersk’s Integrator strategy".
"The business has executed well during the past years, and we have a highly engaged and competent global team ready for the next miles of our transformation. We face a challenging global economic outlook, a softening market and at the same time our customers are looking to radically improve their supply chains to make them more resilient and agile. This creates urgent needs as well as unique opportunities," Mr Clerc said.
"To navigate through and beyond this environment, we will intensify our focus on cost discipline and service quality while increasing customer centricity, and decision power in the front line... Together with the team, I look very much forward to continuing our strong momentum into the next phase of our strategy and I am excited to get to work in the new structure and together with all Maersk colleagues accelerate our business transformation."
Upon being appointed chief executive, Mr Clerc said, "On the heels of a pandemic, and now with the war in Ukraine and an energy crisis upon us, there are many tough challenges ahead; challenges that impact us all and where Maersk can make a difference. Companies are rethinking their supply chains in this new environment, they are looking for more stability, and more support on their decarbonisation journey. This represents an incredible business opportunity for Maersk that we all are eager to seize."
