Multraship Towage & Salvage co-founder Kees Muller, passed away in Terneuzen, the Netherlands, on 24 April 2024, at the age of 79
Mr Muller was a leader and a technology innovator in the tug, towage and salvage industry and an inspiring leader for many individuals involved in the sector spanning many decades.
Having started his career in the family shipping business in the early 1960s, Mr Muller’s impact on the towage and salvage sector counted six decades. Over the years, he was involved in hundreds, if not thousands, of salvage and rescue operations.
Together with his wife of 57 years, Heleen Muller, Mr Muller was pivotal in developing Multraship’s place in the wider towage, salvage and maritime industry.
Mr Muller was a creative thinker and used his operational experience as the driving force behind the development of the revolutionary Carrousel Rave Tug (CRT), of which two were built and operating in the Multraship fleet.
He was a passionate and important maritime ambassador and was honoured with a knighthood - Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau - in 2011.
Alongside his entrepreneurial and specialist tug and salvage skills, Mr Muller was widely known for his charismatic personality. With a love of sailing, music and entertaining; many will remember him enlivening virtually any room in which a piano could be found.
