Port of Aberdeen has stepped up its diversification strategy by appointing a non-executive board member with experience supporting private and third-sector organisations
Sarah Downs has joined Port of Aberdeen as a non-executive board member, increasing the Scottish port’s diversity.
She has12 years’ experience supporting private and third sector organisations, chairs the Aberdeen branch of the Institute of Directors and is regional chair for PXN Venture Scotland.
Ms Downs’ appointment comes at an important time for the port as it strives to attract new activity in energy, cargo, cruise and ferries as a key hub on Scotland’s east coast.
“Ms Downs brings a wealth of experience from a range of sectors, alongside clear strategic focus, practical experience and people-first leadership, strengthening the breadth and depth of the board,” said Port of Aberdeen chair Roy Buchan.
Following her appointment, Ms Downs will support the board and executive team to build on the strong foundations of the port, diversify business and create long-term, sustainable value for the region and its stakeholders.
“2026 will be a pivotal year for Port of Aberdeen as we double down on our diversification strategy,” said Port of Aberdeen chief executive Bob Sanguinetti.
“Ms Downs’s fresh perspective and skill set will help capitalise on the opportunities and navigate the challenges that lie ahead.”
