The UK’s oldest trust port has hired a chief financial officer as it diversifies its harbour business and drives the energy transition in Scotland
Port of Aberdeen has appointed Jennifer Heiton as chief financial officer, effective 11 May 2026, to succeed Jon Oakey, who is retiring after seven years with the trust port.
She joins from Trojan Energy, which provides electric vehicle charging infrastructure, to spearhead finances as the Scottish port moves to diversify its business and invest in green energy.
Ms Heiton has 23 years of experience in corporate financial advisory and chief financial officer roles, including with Ardyne Technologies, a well abandonment and decommissioning specialist, during its acquisition by Weatherford International.
“Jennifer joins Port of Aberdeen at an important moment for the organisation,” said Port of Aberdeen chair Roy Buchan. “Her strategic financial expertise will be crucial as we work with stakeholders to consolidate and diversify our business, drive the energy transition and create prosperity for generations.”
He thanked Mr Oakey for “his significant contribution over the past seven years”, in which time the Port of Aberdeen has opened a new harbour and expanded services to the growing offshore renewable energy sector in the UK.
As chief financial officer, Ms Heiton will serve as an executive director on the trust’s board, with responsibility for financial management and governance, as well as oversight of technology, property management, legal, procurement and the supply chain.
“I look forward to working with the team to deliver sustainable growth, its ambitious net-zero targets, and support the port’s long-term development while maintaining strong financial discipline,” she said.
