A Scottish offshore and maritime hub has hired a new financial controller as it drives ahead with its vision of becoming the UK’s first net-zero port by 2040
Port of Aberdeen in Scotland, UK, has appointed Ross MacRae as its new financial controller as it raises its financial governance and long-term sustainability.
This maritime and offshore hub on the east coast of Scotland is pushing ahead with its vision of becoming the UK’s first net-zero port by 2040 and a diversification strategy.
Mr MacRae has been a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants for over 20 years, and was most recently financial controller for Peterson Energy Logistics.
He has previously held senior financial roles across oil and gas, construction, and energy logistics industries.
In his new position, Mr MacRae will be reporting to Port of Aberdeen chief financial officer Jon Oakey.

His remit covers corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, and budget and forecast preparation. He also oversees payroll and taxation, and development of internal policies and procedures.
“Mr MacRae’s appointment underlines our commitment to strong financial governance and long-term sustainable growth,” said Mr Oakey.
“He brings extensive experience in financial management and strategic planning, which will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen the port’s financial performance and deliver on or ambitious diversification strategy.”
Mr Oakey continued: “Sound financial stewardship is essential to achieving our vision of becoming the UK’s first net zero port by 2040, and Mr MacRae will play a key role in building financial resilience and supporting the port’s continued growth and innovation.”
