A Welsh port complex has appointed a marine support officer to support cargo heavy lifting and offshore renewable energy projects
In Wales, the Port of Milford Haven has welcomed David Stubbins as its marine support officer for Pembroke Port.
He will focus on assisting cargo, heavy-lift and renewable vessels on the Milford Haven Waterway, working closely with commercial manager Sharon Adams to improve utilisation of a heavy-lift quay and an enlarged slipway.
“This is a particularly exciting time to join the Port of Milford Haven with its continuing pilotage investment and with the new facilities available at Pembroke Port,” said Mr Stubbins.
The port is investing in new pilot boats to enhance the pilotage of LNG carriers, cruise ships and offshore support vessels.
“The new slipway, laydown facilities, workboat pontoons and office spaces created as part of the £60.0M (US$78.4M) Pembroke Dock marine project will create opportunities,” said Ms Adams.
Milford Haven is the busiest and largest LNG import hub in the UK with two terminals, regasification facilities, pilots and Svitzer tugs assisting gas carriers into its quaysides.
The Welsh port is also a hub for the growing offshore renewables sector in southwest Wales.
