Brendan Webb is returning to Queensland, Australia to head up a government-owned port authority in October 2023
He will be the new chief executive of North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP) Corp after vacating his current position as head of Ports Victoria. Mr Webb will take over in early October from acting chief executive Belinda Kenny, who will return to her role as chief financial officer.
The previous chief executive Nicolas Fertin resigned in December 2022 after four years in the role at NQBP.
Mr Webb was previously general manager with NQBP for almost five years. As chief executive he will be based in Mackay, Queensland.
NQBP is one of Australia’s largest port authorities by tonnage throughput with around half of Queensland’s trade passing through the four NQBP-run ports of Hay Point, Mackay, Abbot Point and Weipa.
“As a government-owned port authority, our ports and our people deliver essential port services facilitating billions of dollars of trade worldwide for the benefit of the people of Queensland,” said NQBP chair Jane McTaggart.
She said Mr Webb has “experience in commercial sales, trade development, and 24/7 operations including safety and emergency management.”
