2009-built, battery-equipped Island Chieftain chartered for one year for UK North Sea work with Norwegian oil major
Equinor has fixed the battery-hybrid platform supply vessel (PSV) Island Chieftain on a one-year contract to support activity at the Mariner field east of the Shetland Islands in the UK North Sea.
The contract signed with Norwegian owner Island Offshore, which contains an option for another year, began at the end of May.
Built in 2009, Island Chieftain is a UT 776 CD design, with an overall length of 93 m, beam of 20 m, accommodation for 25 and clear deck area of 1,008 m2. The 4,790-dwt PSV had been operating on the spot market, after finishing a charter with TotalEnergies UK at the end of April.
