Swiss gas compression solutions company Burckhardt Compression has acquired the global compressor business from The Japan Steel Works Ltd (JSW)
Tokyo-based JSW is a highly diversified manufacturer of steel, power-plant equipment and industrial machinery. In 2018, JSW generated overall sales of US$1.95Bn. Burckhardt estimated that approximately 1-2% of overall sales are estimated to be generated by the compressor business.
JSW is listed on the Japanese stock exchange and Burckhardt Compression (Japan) Ltd, headquartered in Yokohama, will now assume responsibility for the customer relationship management in Japan.
With the acquisition of JSW’s compressor business, Burckhardt Compression will strengthen its market presence in Japan.
In March, Burckhardt Compression chief executive Marcel Pawlicek said “Burckhardt Compression is building on its market leadership in the compressor business and expanding its presence in Japan, a key market, with this acquisition.”
The acquisition price was not disclosed.
