Greek shipowner Capital Product Partners (CPLP) has taken delivery of its seventh LNG carrier
Asterix I was built by South Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and will sail under the Greek flag. The 299-m vessel features GTT’s Mark III Flex tank containment systems and two Hyundai-WinGD 5X72DF dual-fuel main engines, enabling it to sail on marine diesel and gas. It also features HHI’s Hi-Fin and Hi-Rudder devices.
CPLP bought the 174,000-m3 LNG carrier in June 2022 while the vessel was still under construction at HHI.
At the time, it said Asterix I had already secured a long-term time charter with Hartree Partners Power & Gas Co for a firm period of five years, which, together with the optional period, expires in 2031. The vessel is classed by ABS.
The company’s previous six LNG carriers, Aristos I, Aristidis I, Aristarchos, Attalos, Adamastos and Asklipios, were delivered in 2020 and 2021.
Capital has nine other ships scheduled for delivery by 2026.
