Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU), ABB will support the development and commercialisation of Chart Industries’ modular offerings for LNG, hydrogen, biogas, water treatment and CO2 capture projects
Focused on new technologies that will advance the global clean energy transition, the two Big Board-listed companies will partner to modularise solutions in key emerging segments in an effort to reduce costs and minimise risks. As part of the MOU, ABB will develop standard modular controls, automation, power supply and telecoms solutions for Chart solutions for hydrogen and LNG liquefaction plants where there is significant electrical content and transform materials’ plants, as in the case of a sustainable chemical company with a patented net-carbon-negative process; and to cost-effectively produce high-purity acetylene and hydrogen, in BlueInGreen water treatment dissolution skids and carbon-capture plants.
“The combination of our extensive process technology and equipment offering for standardised, modular, and short lead-time small-scale solutions will be further bolstered by this work with ABB, whose long history and experience in instrumentation, controls, power supply and automation technologies will help bring our offering to the next level,” said Chart Industries president and chief executive Jill Evanko.
ABB Energy Industries president Brandon Spencer said, “Sustainability is at the centre of our collaboration with Chart Industries. Our partnership brings together Chart Industries’ process knowledge and technology with ABB’s extensive experience in automation and power, resulting in innovative solutions and reduced costs. Ultimately, our goal is to support the commercial viability of these emerging segments.”
