UK-based AIS has taken over the subsea specialist for an undisclosed sum
AIS has acquired CRP Subsea as part of an expansion project. With the purchase, AIS will add to its range of subsea offerings.
Based in Skelmersdale, UK, CRP Subsea (formerly Trelleborg Offshore UK) specialises in polymer and syntactic foam-based buoyancy and protection products for the offshore renewables and oil and gas industries.
The acquisition will significantly increase AIS’ market share by creating what the company said is a "global-scale" business.
"Together, the companies will be able to capitalise on the current oil and gas cycle, pursue the energy transition with combined resources, and will be better positioned to serve their client base. With clear synergies between the two companies, our ability to meet the global needs of the energy industry increases significantly as a result," a statement from AIS said.
The new company will offer products including buoyancy, floats and bend protection as well as cable protection, distributed buoyancy modules, insulation and AIS’ Bardot and Manuplas products.
CRP Subsea managing director John Drury said, “We are excited about this new chapter for CRP Subsea as we join the AIS family. The move enables us to accelerate our growth ambitions towards the offshore energy sector."
