A crew transfer vessel owner operating in Taiwan has ordered another newbuilding from a Singapore shipbuilder
OEG Energy Group is expanding its fleet of crew transfer vessels (CTVs) operating in ports and offshore windfarms in Taiwan by ordering another from a Singapore-headquartered builder.
Strategic Marine will construct Wey Feng to BMT’s StratCat 27 design as a 27-m aluminium catamaran powered by twin Caterpillar C32 marine engines, each developing 1,080 kW of power.
This vessel will have fuel capacity of 35,000 litres and seating for up to 24 technicians, and can transfer crews to wind turbines foundations in 1.75 m significant wave height.
Strategic Marine said it is set for delivery in February 2025 as the fourth StratCat 27 built for OEG.
“This StratCat 27 platform will become an integral part of OEG’s Asia-Pacific operations,” said Strategic Marine chief executive Chan Eng Yew. “Wey Feng will contribute significantly to sustainable energy developments across Asia Pacific.”
This vessel will be similar to 2022-built Manor Victor StratCat 27, which transfers crew to offshore windfarms in the UK sector of the southern North Sea.
OEG Renewables took delivery of CTV Furioso earlier this year. The vessel, a Chartwell Brevity-class design, was built and commissioned by OEG Renewables.
The Brevity class is designed to deliver cost-effective, low-emissions support to offshore windfarms and has an optimised hullform that enhances manoeuvrability and stability, combined with a spacious interior that can accommodate up to 32 people.
Riviera’s Offshore Wind Journal Conference 2025 will be held in London on 3 February 2025. The programme will address project pipelines and economics, vessel requirements, technical developments, fleet strategies and innovative solutions for vessel decarbonisation.
