DEME held a naming ceremony in Flushing, The Netherlands on 12 May 2026 for its new jack-up installation vessel, Norse Energi, an event that followed the recent naming of a sister vessel, Norse Wind, in Oslo
Norse Energi is due to enter operation shortly in the Baltic and North Sea. Among the first projects the vessel will work on are Iberdrola’s Windanker offshore windfarm in the German sector of the Baltic, where the vessel is scheduled to start work in June 2026, followed by Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 project in the UK, commencing in Q3 2026.
Norse Energi and Norse Wind were purpose-built to transport next-generation offshore wind turbines and XXL monopiles and install them in water depths of up to 70 m. They are both fitted with a 3,200-tonne crane and designed to transport multiple turbines.
The vessels have a hybrid power plant and a 4.2 MWh battery system, which absorbs energy peaks and reduces loads on the ships’ diesel engines, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
