Deck machinery manufacturer DMT Marine Equipment has acquired online platform Eastlink to provide a streamlined procurement process
Eastlink is a business-to-business platform dedicated to helping maritime companies to find new contacts and extend their client’s network.
This acquisition builds on an existing collaboration between the two companies to tackle the challenges of rising costs and longer delivery times for vessel equipment.
Together, Eastlink and DMT aim to accelerate the maritime sector’s purchasing and sales process by connecting specialised companies.
Eastlink created a transparent request site for the maritime and naval industry, bringing together the owner of a project with potential equipment-production partners from around the world. The project owner remains anonymous until the partner is selected and negotiations start.
DMT Marine Equipment chief executive Piet ter Schure expects Eastlink to generate more efficient business opportunities, increase transparency and minimise costs.
“We are all in the same boat,” he said. “We all experience the same issues, longer delivery times, high prices, and more often, a direct attack on cash flows due to unfavourable terms.”
He said project owners and suppliers will benefit from equal chances and opportunities through the Eastlink platform.
The platform finds online solutions for projects that need immediate execution and reduces the time spent searching for suppliers and production availability
Eastlink can help suppliers promote services and products, find new projects to deliver to and sell their stock overload and unwanted inventory. Damen Marine Components is also a member of the e-procurement platform.
