Norway-based vessel owner DOF has won two contracts to support Austrian oil and gas company OMV’s drilling operations offshore New Zealand
Two anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels, Skandi Emerald and Skandi Atlantic, have been contracted to support drilling rig COSL Prospector for two wells firm plus two options for additional wells.
DOF chief executive Mons S Aase said “I am very happy with this new award in New Zealand, securing good backlog for these units into 2020.”
Skandi Emerald was built in 2011 and Skandi Atlantic was built in 2012, both at Vard’s Vung Tau shipyard in Vietnam, to an STX AH 08 design. Skandi Emerald measures 75 m in length by 17.4 m in breadth and has a draught of 7 m, with a dwt of 3,180 and a 201 tonnes bollard pull. Skandi Atlantic measures 75 m in length by 17.4 m in breadth and has a draught of 7 m, with a dwt of 3,170 and a 193 tonnes bollard pull.
The two vessels are currently supporting COSL Prospector with another operator in New Zealand. The OMV contract will commence upon completion of this campaign, which is expected during Q4 2019.
