The filterless TeamTec Senza ballast water management system (BWMS) has been ordered for five vessels
Following the news in February 2021 that Norway-based TeamTec had signed an agreement with Kurita Water Industries in Japan to acquire all certificates and rights for its newly developed ballast water management system, TeamTec Senza BWMS, as the system is now called, has received its first orders.
The order is for five vessels to undergo retrofit installations between December 2021 and August 2022. The owner of the vessels is reported to be a European company, but no name has been released.
The filterless BWMS uses standard, non-proprietary chemicals during ballast (sodium hypochlorite) and deballast (sodium sulfite) operations.
TeamTec Senza BWMS is said to be a relatively simple system and easy to install on both new and old ships. Only minor modifications to the ballast piping are needed to retrofit install the system, making it possible to complete the installation while sailing.
