Google has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its flagship fund CI V, for the Fengmiao I offshore windfarm in Taiwan
The agreement is the second power purchase agreement between Google and CIP for power from offshore wind, and Google’s first offshore wind PPA in Taiwan and the Asia Pacific region.
Fengmiao I reached financial close on 19 March 2025 and construction commenced shortly after. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
In a statement, Google said, “We are adding to our carbon-free energy portfolio in Taiwan, with our first offshore wind deal in the Asia Pacific.
“As the first project in Taiwan’s Round 3.1 auction to achieve financial close, it is an important catalyst for the local offshore wind sector.
“Once operational in 2027, the project will provide power to support Google’s data centre, cloud region and offices in Taiwan.
“This milestone builds on our existing portfolio of energy technologies in Taiwan, including solar and geothermal, which provide reliable, cost-effective energy to meet rising demand and bring us closer to running on carbon-free energy on every grid where we operate.”
