The LNG cargo and fuel pump sector is seeing increased consolidation, with DESMI acquiring Nordan Marine and other providers expanding service networks
The LNG cargo and fuel pump industry is experiencing growing consolidation, with major players expanding their market presence through strategic acquisitions.
DESMI’s recent purchase of Nordan Marine and Svanehøj’s acquisition of Netherlands-based European Pump Services (EPS) illustrate how companies are positioning themselves to meet evolving industry demands.
DESMI, a Danish pump and flow solutions specialist, has announced its acquisition of Nordan Marine, a company well-established in providing service and repair solutions for cargo and fuel handling systems on LPG, LEG and LNG carriers.
The deal strengthens DESMI’s foothold in the gas carrier market and enhances its ability to support the transition to alternative fuels.
"As part of our growth strategy, we aim to provide the products and solutions shipowners and shipyards need, especially in supporting the transition to green fuels," said DESMI head of new green solutions Rasmus Folsø.
Nordan Marine, founded in 2011, has built a strong brand within the gas carrier service sector. Under DESMI’s ownership, the company will gain access to greater resources and a global service network.
"With an experienced and strong globally operating player like DESMI backing us, we can fully realise the company’s potential to the great benefit of both employees and customers worldwide," commented Nordan Marine chairman of the board Karsten Ries.
Meanwhile, Svanehøj, another Danish marine pump manufacturer, has expanded its reach with the acquisition of European Pump Services. Based in the Netherlands, EPS provides pump services across the industrial, offshore and maritime sectors.
Svanehøj stated the acquisition would strengthen its service network in the Benelux region, ensuring faster support for its customers.
These acquisitions reflect a broader trend of consolidation in the LNG fuel pump market, as companies seek to expand technological capabilities and service offerings in response to changing regulatory and commercial pressures.
With the maritime industry accelerating its transition to greener fuels, firms such as DESMI and Svanehøj are securing their positions through strategic mergers that enhance operational efficiency and market influence.
