A naming ceremony took place in The Netherlands on 5 June 2026 for Chevalier Floatels new vessel, CF Formidable
On 6 June 2026, the vessel was due to depart for Rotterdam to prepare for sea trials, and is due to sail for Nigeria shortly after that to support Marine Platforms and Chevron offshore West Africa.
The 110-m DP2 subsea vessel has a 150-tonne AHC crane, 1,200 m2 of free deck space and 140 beds and complies with the requirements of the 2008 SPS Code.
As reported by OSJ, in early 2025, Chevalier Floatels signed a construction support vessel design deal with the designer of the vessel, Marin Teknikk, that saw the company acquire the 2009-built MT 6040 design hull for completion as multipurpose construction support vessel at Holland Shipyards Group.
Chevalier Floatels acquired the hull of the Spanish-built vessel from its previous owner. It was then towed to the Netherlands, where it was completed by Holland Shipyards Group in Hardinxveld.
Completion of the vessel in The Netherlands saw it fitted with a powerplant that complies with IMO Tier III emissions regulations and a battery system for energy storage.
At the time that the contract was placed with Holland Shipyards, Chevalier Floatels described the newbuild as ‘a multipurpose vessel for construction support, walk-to-work and cable repair and trenching.’
