A Turkish shipyard has delivered a new harbour tug to enhance ship towage in the second-largest port in Bulgaria
Port Flot Burgas has taken delivery of a new Bogacay-class harbour tug from Sanmar Shipyards after its construction in Turkey.
Mars will provide maritime services around Burgas, the second-largest port in Bulgaria, and the surrounding coastline, including harbour and coastal towage, salvage work, ship mooring and unmooring, and will act as a stand-by around tankers and for both offshore and deepsea operations.
This 24-m vessel was built as Bogacay LXXXI to an exclusive-to-Sanmar RAmparts 2400SX-MK II design from Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd.
Mars has a beam of 12.0 m, a least moulded depth of 4.5 m and a navigational draught of 5.5 m, two main diesel engines connected an aftertreatment unit for compliance with IMO Tier III emission standards and twin Z-drives.
It has a a bollard pull of 70 tonnes, accommodation for six crew members, a FiFi1 off-ship fire-fighting system, and capacity to store 77,900 litres of fuel oil, 11,500 litres of potable water and 7,700-litre of fire-suppressant foam.
